Ruscilli was selected to provide preconstruction services for this state-of-the-art showpiece. The 145,000 square foot Austin E. Knowlton School of Architecture replaces Ives and Brown Halls and house Ohio State’s architecture, landscape architecture, and city and regional planning programs.
The interior is a “study in complexity” with five floors specifically designed to complement the area of study assigned to each. Features of this facility include multiple levels on inclined planes, a 220-seat auditorium expandable to seat 350, a two-story, 30,000 volume library that overlooks a rooftop garden used to display landscape architecture students’ projects, marble columns depicting the five classical orders of architecture on the west side of the building, and rooms designed to meet the specific needs of its occupants with mobile, custom-designed furniture.
