Athens City Schools | New High School
The Plains, Ohio
The new Athens High School is a $53M, approximately 140,000sf facility designed to support a modern, student-centered learning environment for 600 students in The Plains, Ohio. Constructed on the existing high school campus, the three-story building provides flexible, future-ready academic spaces that enhance student engagement, collaboration, and overall educational experience, while incorporating durable materials and efficient building systems to support long-term performance and sustainability. The project is carefully phased to maintain uninterrupted school operations, with the existing high school remaining fully functional throughout construction in close proximity to the new facility, prioritizing student safety, accessibility, and daily campus continuity.
Upon completion, the existing facility will be demolished to create new parking and site improvements, resulting in a cohesive, efficient campus that better serves students, staff, and the surrounding community. This phased approach not only minimizes disruption but also supports a seamless transition into a purpose-built, contemporary learning environment designed to meet evolving educational needs for years to come.
