The Schumaker Student-Athlete Development Center at The Ohio State University is a transformative 108,000sf, $43M facility designed to elevate the nutritional, physical, and psychological development of more than 800 student-athletes across 33 Olympic sport teams. Strategically located in the heart of the Athletic District and directly connected to the iconic Woody Hayes Athletic Center, the complex functions as the central training hub for Ohio State’s Olympic sports programs. The center integrates cutting-edge resources including extensive hydrotherapy suites, hot/cold plunge pools, cryotherapy, rehabilitation and training/taping spaces, examination rooms, dedicated locker facilities, agility turf, weight rooms, multipurpose areas, and a full-service production kitchen and dining space to support holistic performance. Enhanced with classroom spaces, coaching offices, and a nutrition “fuel zone,” the Schumaker Center provides an innovative, comprehensive environment where student-athletes can train, recover, study, and prepare mentally and physically for peak performance, while celebrating the university’s proud athletic heritage through immersive graphics and thoughtfully designed interior spaces.
