Ruscilli Construction was selected by The Ohio State University to deliver the 240,000sf Scott Laboratory, a major academic and research facility supporting the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The project was executed on a highly constrained site and required a multi-phase demolition of the existing Robinson Laboratory while the facility remained fully occupied. To maintain uninterrupted academic operations, Ruscilli coordinated extensive rerouting of pedestrian traffic, utilities, and class locations throughout construction.

The completed Scott Laboratory provides a comprehensive mix of classrooms, instructional and research computing spaces, specialized instructional laboratories, departmental offices, meeting areas, and student support spaces. Laboratory programs support a wide range of engineering disciplines, including nuclear engineering, gas dynamics, non-equilibrium thermodynamics, experimental mechanics, metrology, manufacturing, tribology, vibrations, automotive research, nanotechnology, and heavy vibration testing. The project demonstrates Ruscilli’s ability to deliver complex, large scale academic facilities within dense, active campus environments while maintaining safety, schedule, and operational continuity.
