Buckeye Valley Local Schools

Delaware, OH

In support of the rapid growth projections for Delaware County, Buckeye Valley Local Schools embarked on a $30M program to build two new elementary schools.

The new 67,000sf Buckeye Valley West Elementary School replaced the former elementary school located in Ostrander, Ohio, to serve 450 students grade PK-5. Constructed on a 33 acre parcel outside the city limits, the remote location included a self-contained wastewater treatment plant and propane tank farm to serve the new facility.

The new 59,000sf Buckeye Valley East Elementary School consisted of a 44,800sf addition and significant renovations to 14,200sf of the existing school, as well as demolition of more than 40,000sf of the original structure. A complex phasing plan successfully allowed full occupancy and regular school operations throughout the construction period, and also included the construction of a separate multipurpose building to serve as interim physical education and cafeteria space.
